Freewell Brandon Li 72mm Variable Density ND/CPL Filter Set

The Freewell Brandon Li 72mm set is a modular filter system designed for photography and videography in varying lighting conditions. It combines a VND filter with an adjustable range of 1–5 stops with a CPL polarizing filter, and when paired with the included ND32 filter, it allows you to extend the light reduction to 6–10 stops. The set also includes a 1/4 Glow Mist filter, a 72 mm base ring, protective caps, and storage and cleaning accessories, making the entire system ideal for both planned shots and dynamic on-location filming.

Independent VND and CPL Adjustment

The VND/CPL module allows you to control the amount of light and the degree of polarization separately. The front black ring controls the VND filter in the range of 1 to 5 stops, allowing you to quickly adjust exposure to current conditions without having to frequently change camera settings. The rear green ring, on the other hand, is used to adjust the CPL, which helps reduce reflections on water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces while improving color accuracy and scene contrast.

1 to 10 stops of light reduction

In its basic VND/CPL configuration, it allows adjustment from ND2 to ND32, which corresponds to a light reduction range of 1–5 stops. When there is significantly more light, an additional ND32 filter can be magnetically attached to extend the range to 6–10 degrees, up to a level equivalent to ND1000. The ND32 filter itself can also be attached directly to the base ring, allowing you to tailor the kit’s configuration to a specific shot without having to carry multiple separate filter systems.

Magnetic Mounting and Glow Mist 1/4

The magnetic system allows for quick attachment and removal of filters, while the locking mechanism helps keep them secure when moving with the camera or frequently changing the frame. The included Glow Mist 1/4 filter can be mounted directly on the base ring or magnetically attached to the VND/CPL module, providing greater flexibility in achieving the desired final effect. Its purpose is to gently soften bright areas of the image and give highlights a softer character, which can be useful in portrait, cityscape, and film shots, among others.

18-Layer Coatings and True Color Technology

The optical design utilizes 18-layer optical coatings designed to reduce reflections and maintain high image clarity. The Anti-Color Shift Layer, a component of True Color technology, helps minimize unwanted color shifts during light reduction, ensuring that colors remain as natural as possible across the filter’s entire range of operation. The system is complemented by front and rear protective caps; the front cap features an integrated gray card that can be used for white balance control.
