Freewell Brandon Li 77mm Variable Density ND/CPL Filter Set

The Freewell Brandon Li Basic Kit 77 mm is a magnetic filter set designed for photography and videography in varying lighting conditions. The main module combines an adjustable 1–5-stop VND filter with an independently controlled CPL polarizing filter, and the included ND32 filter extends the light reduction range to 6–10 stops, providing a total range of 1 to 10 stops. The set also includes a 77 mm base ring, front and rear caps, a filter pouch, a clip accessory, and a cleaning cloth.

Independent VND and CPL Adjustment

The dual-ring design allows for separate adjustment of exposure and polarization, so that one function does not force a change in the other. The black ring adjusts the VND filter density within a range of 1–5 stops, while the green ring controls the CPL and helps reduce reflections on surfaces such as water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces. This design makes it easier to maintain your chosen aperture and shutter speed while improving color accuracy and scene contrast.

From 1 to 10 stops with the included ND32

The VND/CPL module alone provides adjustment from 1 to 5 stops, while attaching the ND32 filter extends the operating range to 6–10 stops. The ND32 can also be mounted directly onto the base ring and used as a standalone filter with a fixed light reduction, which increases the flexibility of the entire system. This allows a single set to be used in both moderate light and when filming in intense sunlight, without the need to carry several separate ND filters.

Magnetic Mount with Mechanical Lock

Freewell has implemented a system in which magnets facilitate quick attachment of the filter to the base ring, and a short twist mechanically locks it in place. In practice, all you need to do is align the markings, let the magnets position the filter correctly, and then twist the module to secure it while shooting on the move. This solution is well-suited for “run-and-gun” shooting, as it allows for quick configuration changes without having to screw the entire filter in and out each time.

Slim Design and True Color Technology

The 18-layer optical coatings and the True Color / Anti-Color Shift Layer technology are designed to minimize reflections and unwanted color shifts, preserving the image’s natural appearance as much as possible. The front magnetic cap also features a built-in gray card that can be used to quickly check the white balance.
