TRUTHEAR Zero Blue 2 Wired Headphones (blue)

The TRUTHEAR Zero Blue was designed for listeners who expect dynamic, detailed sound and well-controlled frequency response across the entire range. The design features two dynamic drivers—one 10 mm and one 7.8 mm in diameter—an advanced crossover system, and solutions developed based on experience gained from previous models in the Zero series. The acoustic chambers, nozzle, and a number of driver components have also been redesigned, with a focus on higher efficiency, reduced distortion, and more natural sound reproduction. The design is complemented by housings manufactured using 3D-DLP printing by HeyGears and a detachable cable made of copper and silver-plated copper. As a result, the design is suitable for both casual music listening and more demanding listening sessions, such as monitoring, and—in the version with a microphone—also for calls and gaming (the microphone cable is sold separately).

Two dynamic drivers

A redesigned 7.8 mm dynamic driver with an internal magnetic system is responsible for reproducing midrange and high frequencies. It features a flexible polyurethane suspension and a dome diaphragm made of LCP (liquid crystal polymer). Compared to the previous model, the magnet’s diameter has been increased by approximately 25%, while the dome’s surface area has increased by approximately 50%. The high-frequency conductive structure has also been modified. These changes have improved the driver’s efficiency and sensitivity in the highest part of the frequency range, ensuring a smooth, transparent reproduction of high frequencies, better frequency extension, and high resolution.

Stronger Bass Foundation

The low frequencies are handled by a 10-mm dynamic driver, which has also been modified. It features a finely tuned suspension made of solid silicone, a dome diaphragm made of liquid-crystal polymer, and a voice coil using a thin wire. This resulted in a redesigned bass tuning system that works in conjunction with a low-distortion crossover network, similar to the solution used in the Zero Red series. As a result, we achieved lower nonlinear distortion than in the original Zero model, and the bass gained greater depth and a clearer, more energetic character.

Precise Band Division

The acoustic chamber design and crossover system were redesigned based on experience with earlier TRUTHEAR headphones that utilized two dynamic drivers. The goal is to increase the efficiency of both drivers while allowing each to operate within a properly selected frequency range. As a result, the sensitivity of the entire system has been significantly improved. The filtered nozzle—precisely manufactured by HeyGears using 3D-DLP technology—also plays a key role, working in conjunction with a hybrid, multi-stage crossover system. This design allows the headphones’ performance to more closely match the specifications set during the design phase.

Clarity and Greater Detail

During the development of the Zero Blue 2 model, special emphasis was placed on increasing overall efficiency while maintaining excellent linear and nonlinear distortion parameters. In selected frequency ranges, the level of nonlinear distortion is lower than in the Zero Red series, which helps maintain a clean background and a clear reproduction of fine details. The frequency response has been tuned to better suit a wide range of listening preferences, with an optimized response in the lowest bass below 50 Hz and a smoother transition through the midrange. The high frequencies, on the other hand, have been matched to the HRTF amplitude response, maintaining high sensitivity even above 10,000 Hz.

Vivid and Coherent Sound

Compared to the first Zero model, a number of changes have been introduced that affect both the measurement results and the listening experience itself. The Zero Blue 2 offers a more dynamic and lively sound than the Zero Red, and the high efficiency of the driver responsible for the high-frequency range allows it to bring out subtle details present in recordings and mixes. The headphones also stand out for their very consistent phase response across the entire frequency range. Minimizing issues related to phase distortion helps maintain a more natural sound perception, and the increased number of internal conductors positively affects the sound quality.

3D-Printed Housings

HeyGears is once again responsible for manufacturing the housings, utilizing precise 3D-DLP printing technology. The Zero Blue 2 retains stylistic references to the original Zero but features a redesigned outer panel. The optimized resin used in the printing process allowed for localized reductions in material thickness inside the chamber without compromising the structural integrity of the design. The nozzle size and support angles were also adjusted, with particular attention paid to comfort during extended use. The housings are skin-friendly and designed with multi-hour listening sessions in mind.

Improved Cable

The Zero Blue 2 features a 0.78 mm 2-pin connector that allows the cable to be detached and replaced. The set includes an improved, two-conductor coaxial cable made of high-quality copper and silver-plated copper, and the increased number of internal conductors is designed to enhance transmission performance. The cable’s design has also been optimized to minimize tangling during everyday use. A version with a microphone is also available, featuring a cable terminated with a 3.5 mm plug and 0.78 mm 2-pin connectors, as well as a high-quality oxygen-free copper microphone cable, the same as that used in the TRUTHEAR Gate model (not included).
