SUNSUN CUV-655 55W UV-C Lamp

The SunSun CUV-655 is a 55W UV-C lamp designed for ponds and water features with a capacity of up to 65,000 liters. The device works with systems with a flow rate of up to 8,000 l/h and helps reduce the growth of floating algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms responsible for deteriorating water quality. Thanks to UV-C radiation, the water becomes clearer without the need for chemicals, which helps maintain safe conditions for fish and plants. The model is equipped with universal hose connectors for diameters of 25, 32, 38, and 50 mm, and a 5-meter power cord facilitates installation in a convenient location within the filtration system.

Technology that increases the effectiveness of UV-C radiation

Inside the unit, a special design directs the water flow around the UV-C lamp in a way that prolongs contact with the radiation. As a result, the disinfection process is more effective than in standard flow-through solutions. Additionally, the manufacturer has incorporated a stainless steel reflector that reflects unused UV-C rays back into the working chamber. This increases operational efficiency without the need for a more powerful light source and simultaneously reduces the fouling issue typical of conventional reflectors.

Visualization of water flow through the filter element with a purification effect inside the tube

Clear water without the use of chemicals

The UV-C lamp works by exposing the flowing water to ultraviolet radiation, which destroys the algae responsible for the green water effect. Dead microorganisms clump together into larger clusters that can be easily removed by a mechanical or biological filter. The manufacturer states that with a properly selected filtration system, the first results in the form of noticeably cleaner water can be seen in as little as 14 days. The best results are achieved when the UV-C lamp is used in conjunction with a biological filter, which takes over the removal of remaining contaminants from the tank.

A well-thought-out design for year-round operation

The CUV-655 model is equipped with two ferrite magnets located inside the housing, which, according to the manufacturer, assist in the magnetization of the flowing water. The housing is made of durable ASA and ABS plastics resistant to the conditions found in a pond environment. The symmetrical design allows the connection ports to be used as both an inlet and an outlet, making it easier to adapt the unit to an existing system. The dimensions are 691 × 261 × 118 mm, so you can easily verify the available installation space before purchasing. For Koi ponds, it is important to note the manufacturer’s recommendation of approximately 3 W of UV-C power per 1,000 liters of water, meaning the 55 W model is ideal for Koi ponds with a capacity of approximately 18,000 liters.
